Sciatica: what radiating leg pain is trying to tell you
Why buttock and leg symptoms need a careful plan—not endless rest or random stretches.
Practical education supports recovery, but it cannot replace an assessment tailored to your symptoms and health history.
Not every leg pain is “true” sciatica
Symptoms can come from the lumbar spine, nerve sensitivity, or soft tissue around the hip and buttock. An assessment helps separate nerve-related patterns from mechanical back or hip pain so treatment targets the right driver.
Movement usually helps—when it is chosen well
Complete bed rest rarely speeds recovery. Guided positions, paced walking, and specific nerve-friendly exercises can settle irritation while protecting sensitive movements that sharply increase symptoms.
Red flags deserve prompt attention
Progressive weakness, bladder or bowel changes, saddle numbness, or unexplained fever need urgent medical review. For typical mechanical patterns, physiotherapy and spinal care can reduce pain and rebuild confidence for sitting, commuting, and work.
